Hunton & Williams (Thailand) Represents Thai Power Company To Build $250M Mega Solar Farm

BANGKOK — 21 July 2010— Hunton & Williams (Thailand) Limited recently represented Natural Energy Development Company (NED) to complete the development and project financing to construct one of the world's largest solar farms in Thailand. The solar plant will feature the innovative use of more than 540,000 high-grade, thin-film solar panels to generate 73MW and is expected to cut carbon dioxide emission by approximately 1.3 million tons over its projected 25-year operation.

The total investment of the project is approximately Bt8 million ($250M) and it is expected to commence operation by the end of 2011. This project is regarded as a step towards a revolution of Thailand’s development in renewable energy, which requires advanced technology, professional funding support and readiness of national policy.

NED is an independent power producer in the Kingdom of Thailand, with a 33.3 percent stake owned by Diamond Generating Asia (DGA), a wholly owned subsidiary company of Mitsubishi Corporation - and Electricity Generating Public Company (EGCO).
