UK ICO Launches New Data Protection Audit Framework

On October 7, 2024, the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (“ICO”) announced the launch of a new audit framework designed to help organizations assess and improve their compliance with key requirements of UK data protection law.  The framework is comprised of 9 toolkits covering areas such as accountability, information and cybersecurity, data sharing, personal data breach management, and artificial intelligence.  Each toolkit highlights the risk(s) in the specific toolkit area and details ways in which an organization can meet the expectations of the ICO.  In addition, the framework also includes an audit tracker for each toolkit area, which an organization can use to assess their compliance.
