On May 16, 2014, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe announced the members of the Virginia Cyber Security Commission, including the appointment of Hunton & Williams LLP’s Paul M. Tiao. Tiao, one of eleven citizen members elected to the group, is a partner in the firm’s Global Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group.

“The cybersecurity issues facing both the Commonwealth and the nation are substantial,” said Tiao. “I’m honored to be selected to serve on the governor’s Commission. I look forward to having this opportunity to help the State and to work with the leaders on the Commission.”

The Commission, established by executive order on February 26, 2014, brings together public and private sector industry leaders from around the state, as well as McAuliffe Administration representatives, to offer recommendations on how to make Virginia a national leader in cybersecurity. Co-chaired by Secretary of Technology Karen Jackson and Chairman and CEO of Good Harbor Security Risk Management Richard Clarke, the group is slated to hold its inaugural meeting June 11.
