Overview
Fernando has practiced in the corporate and securities, banking and finance, and international fields for more than 30 years. His clients include a broad range of publicly traded and privately held US and foreign companies and financial institutions. Throughout his career, Fernando has led numerous significant mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other business transactions, including those involving cross-border complexities. He regularly represents foreign clients in connection with US acquisitions, as well as domestic companies with regard to their international expansion. He also represents financial institutions and other companies in relation to their equity and debt financings.
Fernando has structured and directed numerous infrastructure investments and project financings. He has particular experience in renewable energy infrastructure development and finance, as well as in the transportation infrastructure sector.
Chambers USA and Chambers Latin America both recognize Fernando as a top lawyer, and clients praise him as someone who “understands the goals of clients when closing deals” and is “a very strong advocate for his client’s interests.” They also note his “strong commercial vision,” “pragmatic approach,” and ability to provide “timely and strategic advice on a variety of matters.”
Fernando is the head of Hunton’s Latin America group.
