Department of Labor Releases Coronavirus Leave Posters

The Department of Labor released posters that employers with fewer than 500 employees must use to meet the notice posting requirements of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.

The DOL issued two posters, one for federal employers, available here and one for all other covered employers, available here.  The DOL also provided a questions and answers page regarding the notice posting requirement here.

Under the Families First Act, employers subject to the Act must post these notices “in conspicuous places on the premises of the employer where notices to employees are customarily posted.”

Because many employers have adopted teleworking plans, the DOL provided guidance that employers may also satisfy their notice obligations under the statute by emailing or direct mailing this notice to employees, or posting this notice on an employee information internal or external website.

The Families First Act takes effect April 1, so all covered employees should plan to post or distribute the required notice on or before that date.

The Families First Act provides up to 12 weeks of paid leave to certain employees for coronavirus-related reasons.  We have previously covered the key provisions of the Act here and here.
